The article considers inventory losses in design of the periodical press during its transition to the electronic version in terms of in content quality (style, typos, factual errors, replacing the header set to the simple header). The absence of a page and the perimeter of pages in an electronic publication and the change in reading traditions are also researched. The author examines the difference between reading and analysis of the digital content of the printed text, the documentary feature print content, the archival safety figures for the future, the impact on the practice of the absence of the Law on the electronic edition, the role of photos in print media, the loss of photos’ leadership in digital media, the selectivity in the choice of the digital edition of journalism genres and the disappearance of a number of analytical genres.
